How Juricue researches and presents firms
When you're choosing a lawyer, you deserve to know where the information in front of you comes from. We gather what law firms publish about themselves and turn it into clear profiles you can compare. We don't rank firms or recommend one over another, and we're open about the limits of what we can check.
1. What can be listed
We list a US law firm when it has its own website and enough public information to build a useful profile. We haven't reached every firm in the country yet. A firm may be missing because there's little public information about it, it has no working website, or we simply haven't got to it yet.
2. What information we use
Our profiles are built from public sources: the firm's own website, public records and public review sites. We use AI-assisted research to put this into the same format for every firm. Firms update their details over time, so please confirm anything important with the firm directly.
3. How firms are organized
We organize firms by state and by the kinds of cases they say they handle. You can also search in everyday terms, like divorce or car accident, and we'll point you to the right practice area. Those labels are there to help you find your way. They aren't legal advice, and not every firm handles every version of a problem.
4. How search and listing order work
Search results aren't ranked by quality. They depend on what you search for and the state, city and practice area you choose. Everywhere else, firms are listed alphabetically. The only ranked lists are the top-rated pages, explained next.
5. How the top-rated state lists work
Each state's "Top-Rated Law Firms" page is the only place on Juricue where firms are ranked, so we want to be clear about what that order means. It is based on public Google reviews, not on our opinion of which firm is best for your case.
To appear, a firm needs a Google rating of at least 4.0 from at least three reviews, matched to its own Google listing. If a rating was found under a website shared with a different firm, we leave it out, because we can't be sure whose rating it is. We then pull each firm's rating toward the average of the qualifying firms in its state, as if it had 20 extra reviews at that average. That way a firm with a long, strong track record isn't outranked by a handful of five-star reviews. Each state shows its top 10, or every firm that qualifies if there are fewer.
6. How ratings are handled
When a profile shows a star rating, it's the firm's public Google rating, not a Juricue score. We only show one when we can match it to the firm with confidence, and we never estimate a rating. Some profiles also show a few Google reviews word for word, in Google's own order, but we don't check or edit them. See how we calculate our numbers for more.
7. What we do not verify
We don't check a firm's bar admission, license status, disciplinary history, case results, fees, consultation availability, awards or client satisfaction. Listing a firm isn't a recommendation, and it doesn't mean the firm is right for your case.
8. Corrections and removals
Firm details can go out of date. If you spot a mistake, want something corrected or want a firm removed, email [email protected]. We'll check it and update or remove the profile.
